"each energy particle in motion creates a field - an energy space - that is dependent on motion, and the denser this field is, the more it affects its surroundings […].
so we have to learn to move media that are available in the way that electrons and photons are used to... then we can also 'move mountains' with a relatively small amount of energy."
walter schauberger

the work was developed in the context of a competition. the aim was to give the chaotically grown structure of the incinerator a uniform visual appearance, to tell something about its history and to gently integrate it into its environment.
the plant transforms material into energy and energy back into material. how do we understand energy and how it is used today? how can we develop further in order to understand it better and more sustainably tomorrow?
the plant should enable the observer to change perspective - away from the industrial process and towards a poetic vision of how we can handle energy tomorrow. it tells a story that can be experienced intuitively - about energy, about its cycles. nature and sustainability are in the foreground. the plant should serve as a place of inspiration and help to shape hamburg as a model city.

near and far effect.
from a distance, the installation appears as an energetic sculpture. its exterior appears light, permeable, mobile, plays sensitively with light and shadow.
from close up, the installation then gives the impression of its inner being. the quick glance remains unrewarded - the visitor becomes part of the installative work, without his interpretation, the location remains indeterminate and open. when entering the installation, a further level of information opens up for him, he gains insights into the inner happenings via an exhibition course while he walks the skywalk.
understand nature, copy nature.
nature fulfils an important design element of the object. it tronts on the plant, its meaning for us and our future is emphasized. the lightness of the outer skin symbolizes the dissolution of the old way of thinking of the industrial age - it shows a hologram of past days.
