concept, design, realisation 

conception and elaboration of ten hand made and large format books about the origin and development of the book itself. they were created during the drupa fair 2016 for the company tkm group.

what is a book?

everyday we deal with books. they include a wide diversity. books can be easily written, imaginative and full of phantasy. on the other hand a book can be deep and scientific. books build bridges between generations and cultures. they help us dive into complex thought and reflect the readers thoughts.

during ten days 22quadrat realized ten books. the project was developed in cooperation with ueberholz and on behalf of the tkm group. the meaning and history of the book itself is main content of the work. the tkm group produces cutting tools and squeegee wich are used during the production of books.

every book itself has its own topic. with abstract illustrations, handcrafted, experimental techniques and a special typography they are all unique. the work wants to show the origins of cultural products we deal with in everyday life but about wich we don´t really know anything anymore.

result of the work for tkm group are ten unique books, based on pencil- and watercolor drawings, impasto colorfields, indian ink- and jackson color drawings such as typography only. every book is 25 kilogram and moves between rational informations and intuitive forms of expression.
